HOW YOU CAN HELP

Hello, Running man here! I'd like to explain how the diaries will 'hopefully' work throughout our trip. There are a number of factors effecting this area of the site. Time is one of them. There aren't many plug (power) sockets in the jungle, so every second on the computer is jealously guarded - each of us taking turns - editing videos, writing entries, researching, transferring data. In fact the transfer of data is one of our biggest considerations. If you think it's expensive ringing a mobile phone, try ringing a satilite 25,000 miles above earth for an hour a day - scary phone bills!!!

The daily content will be relatively basic, with hyperlinks pointing to areas of the web that contain more detailed information. This is where you can play an active part. We would like to invite you to suggest links to sites concerned with the issues we platform. In this way our simple observations may become part of something much bigger and more powerful - ideally an online, world-wide information source that links those who are actively involved in or feel passionatly about conservation, whether they be scholars, students, children, or remote communities. In fact if you have computer, a modem and net connection and feel that you can contribute to what we have set out to achieve, we would love to hear from you.

Your involvement is not limited to just suggesting links; start a discussion in our discussion area. E-mail us via our monitor@runningmanonline.com .If there is something we have missed, overlooked or you feel we should focus on, let us know. Runningman is a project that in time will (hopefully) be able to travel to other areas of the world offering the same type of platform as we intend with this first trip. Although we have outlined potential locations for these journeys, in Iran Jaya, Kalimantar (Borneo) and the Philippines the actual destination will depend largly on your suggestions. If you know of an area or tribal community that is in need of assistance, that could potentailly benefit from being able to voice its opinions directly to a world wide audience, let us know and we will try to find a way to make it happen.

As a closing note.

One thing is for certain - putting this project together has proven that nothing is impossible. What you hope; what you dream - you can do. Begin it! Boldness has power, wisdom and magic! If you have a project, and feel, as we do, that technology should be applied for the benefit of all, and not just for those who can afford it, then let us know. There is always room for more Running Men and Women.
