THE LINKING OF TECHNOLOGY They are carrying lightweight solar panels from which they charge their generator during the day and send you their audio visual daily diary via a portable satcom system and satphone each night. Each day they will receive by return a selection of your comments and suggestions. The project could not have been possible without the help of some of the following: |

Scubacam provided us
with a rain cover for the PD100 camera. In addition they customised
their standard mini DV underwater housing which is made of natural latex
and usually houses a 2.9 inch colour monitor in the rear. To allow us
to see the monitor whilst filming underwater they glanded a 2 meter
underwater cable to the wall of the splashbag to connect to the monitor.
They also modified their standard handle bracket so a mono pod could
be screwed in the top, thus allowing Max to lower the housing into piranha
infested waters without fear of losing more than one finger! We also
have a puncture repair kit and glass replacement so we can maintain
the splashbag under these harsh conditions.

If we had the budget we would be handing these out at will - lightweight, rugged, unbreakable and seriously effective, the most eco-conscious piece of equipment we have. Sustainable power without noise, pollution or consequence. Thanks to Solar Century. www.solarcentury.co.uk/acatalog/shop.html

SONY DSR-PD100 1/4inch CCD sensor, each with 380,000 pixels (effective 360,000). This newly developed 3 CCD system is designed to compliment the DVCAM recording format, with a high standard of picture quality for this class of camera. The CCD's in the DSR-PD100 can be switched to scan in two ways: Interlace Scan for recording moving images and Progressive Scan for recording still images.

HONDA EX 500 GENERATOR This 500 watt generator is relatively lightweight at 8.8kg and will give us 1.5 hours runningtime. It is a quiet and reliable which is appropriate given the circumstances.

Aside of the equipment sponsors, there are many people who have helped make this first trip possible. Even though we are only at the beginning we would like to thank the following for their support and encouragement: Patricia Kruijer Special thanks go to the two people, who for their own reasons wish to remain anonymous Highest Regards RM, JAY & MAX |
